And the Beat Goes On! The poetry community that once thrived with icons like Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac in downtown San Francisco is still alive and kicking today, and we're thrilled to feature Jamey Williams as he carries that legacy forward.

Jamey, a multidisciplinary artist and the founder of The Collective, is a prominent figure in the Bay Area's vibrant arts scene. With a focus on music, theater, and spoken word, Jamey has earned national recognition, including the title of "Nicest Poet in the Country" at the 2017 National Poetry Slam and runner-up in America's Best College Poet in 2020. You might even recognize him from the 2018 truth anti-tobacco commercial that premiered at the Grammys. Currently, Jamey is dedicating his artistic energy to playwriting and consistently releasing new music. Beyond his performances, Jamey is a well-respected educator and community organizer in the Bay.

Jamey will be joined by Paul Staley from SF City Guides, who will speak briefly about the legendary poets, writers, and artists who resided in Monkey Block (now Transamerica Park), how these individuals shaped poetry and literature, and details about SF City Guides' free Beat Generation Walking Tour.

Bring your lunch and let Jamey Williams and his poet friends enrich your midday with their words on Tuesday, July 22nd, from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM at Mechanics Monument Plaza.

All are welcome! No RSVP required.
