ICA SF and California College of the Arts are thrilled to partner again this year to present For the Time Being, a pop-up exhibition by first-year students in the CCA Master’s of Fine Arts program. Student artists will take over both floors of ICA SF from April 2 - 6, responding creatively to the unique architecture of 345 Montgomery. The exhibition will be open to the public during these dates, with a complimentary opening reception featuring refreshments and artist performances on Saturday, April 5th, from 5–8pm.

Originally conceived as a tribute to the late CCA MFA Fine Arts Program Chair Peter Simensky, this partnership between ICA SF and CCA celebrates the next generation of artists and exposes student work to a wide public audience.

For The Time Being is an ambitious survey of cutting-edge practices from sculpture, painting, and photography to video, installation, and performance. These students bring provocative and sensitive approaches to contemporary art, addressing urgent subjects like mourning and displacement, the body, existential dilemmas, altered landscapes, and craft as storytelling.
