The Downtown SF Partnership is seeking artists to create pieces for Let’s Glow SF, the country’s largest holiday projection arts festival. Selected works will be projection mapped onto the facades of the four participating buildings in downtown San Francisco during the 3-5 minute countdown timer before the start of each animated show. The pieces will be featured from 5:00 PM-10:00 PM each night of Let’s Glow SF 2023, which will run from December 1st-10th.
The submission period, which launches on Friday, June 30th, will close on October 27th, 2023. Those selected will need to submit completed pieces no later than November 15th, 2023.
With over 50,000 attendees in its second year in December of 2022 and the opportunity to showcase digital art on a massive scale, Let’s Glow SF is the perfect opportunity for artists of all aesthetic styles to showcase their work in a large-scale community event.
Artists of all skill levels and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. A Projection Mapping 101 info session will be offered for traditional or digital artists who haven’t worked in the projection mapping medium to help bring their visions to life.
Creative Guidance: Let's Glow SF is a family-friendly winter event that celebrates the beauty of the season. Each piece should incorporate winter in some way, shape, or form. This could be as simple as a color palette choice or as complex as a storyline that takes the viewers on a journey through a winter concept. Let's Glow SF encourages originality and diversity of expression but asks that no religious or holiday-related iconography is used in the motifs. Artists are encouraged to incorporate their own styles and aesthetics as an interpretation of the theme.
