The Commercial Break Marketplace is a new community activation series designed to bring renewed energy and connection to Commercial Street, one of San Francisco Chinatown’s historic corridors. By transforming the block into a pedestrian-only public space, the Marketplace offers a welcoming environment featuring pop-up vendors, community seating, and cultural programming.
Location: Commercial Street, between Kearny and Montgomery Streets.

Enjoy ice-breaker games, meet new people, shop unique Valentine’s gifts, and stroll a festive marketplace perfect for cute photos and memorable moments. ❤️

Series Schedule
From January – March 2026, Commercial Street will open to pedestrians weekly every Friday and Saturday from 12-6PM, with each month featuring signature themed activations on select dates:
- February 14: Valentine’s Day Match-Making Event
- March 21: Asian Street Food Demonstration
This initiative is a collaborative effort led by the Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) in partnership with the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) and Self-Help for the Elderly. The project aims to activate public space, enhance neighborhood safety through increased foot traffic, and foster community-centered experiences in Chinatown.
