Details

Gallery Wendi Norris presents Fine Tuner, the first West Coast solo exhibition of New York-born artist Karla Knight (b. 1958). The show features her newest “tapestries,” large works on reclaimed cotton sacks, alongside recent paintings, collages, works on paper, and pages from her Spaceship Notebooks. Nearly all of the works are on public view for the first time.

For more than four decades, Knight has built a visual language of spaceships, orbs, eyes, imaginary writing, charts, and invented signs, arranged into diagrammatic compositions that recall astronomical charts, instruction manuals, or control panels. Her sources range from Surrealism and early abstraction to Jungian psychology and astronomy.

About the Artist

Knight lives and works in Redding, CT, and is represented by Andrew Edlin Gallery, New York. Her work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Walker Art Center.
