ABOUT: Kiazi Malonga is a second generation Congolese American who was first introduced to Congolese dance and drum at age two by his late father Malonga Casquelourd, a world-renowned traditional drummer, dancer and choreographer from Congo Brazzaville.
Kiazi became the lead drummer of his father’s dance company, Fua Dia Congo, at age 16 and began choreographing dances for the junior company “Ballet Kiginzu” at 18 years old. He currently teaches Congolese traditional music in Oakland, CA and regularly choreographs dances for Fua Dia Congo performances throughout California.
