836M is pleased to announce its fourth Creative Lab in partnership with the Kronos Performing Arts Association. For the Creative Lab, Kronos Quartet will publicly rehearse Philip Glass’ String Quartet No. 5 and Yevgeniy Sharlat’s Pencil Sketch, preparing the Glass quartet ahead of several concerts at the top of 2027 celebrating Philip Glass’ 90th birthday.
About Kronos Quartet
For over 50 years, San Francisco’s acclaimed Kronos Quartet has reimagined the string quartet experience through thousands of global performances, over 70 recordings, and collaborations across diverse genres. Their celebrated history includes over 40 prestigious honors, such as three Grammys, a Library of Congress registry induction, and appointment as Doomsday Clock Artists in Residence. Through its nonprofit, Kronos Performing Arts Association (KPAA), the group manages its tours and educational programs while commissioning more than 1,100 works. KPAA's latest milestone, Kronos Fifty for the Future, commissioned and freely distributed 50 new works from international composers for students and emerging musicians.
