SF Climate Week Podcast Day brings together cutting-edge thinkers and creators for an immersive, one-day podcast festival at the KALW studios. This event offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at live broadcast recordings, moving beyond "doom-scrolling" to highlight real-world solutions and the individuals rewriting the future of the planet. From ocean conservation to climate-forward design, attendees will experience sharp conversations and deep dives into the most pressing environmental stories of our time.

11:30AM – 12:30PM | Climate Break
Host Ethan Elkind (Director of the Climate Program at UC Berkeley’s CLEE) welcomes innovators and scientists for a live taping focused on the "other" climate story—the one of action and progress. This session explores the quiet determination of those moving the needle from the rooftops of Oakland to the policy halls of Sacramento.

1PM – 2PM | Rising Tide: The Ocean Podcast
Co-host David Helvarg (Executive Director of Blue Frontier) is joined by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Louie Psihoyos (The Cove) for a special live recording. The conversation dives into ocean storytelling, marine culture, and the critical challenges facing the blue planet, blending humor with visionary insights into the future of our seas.

2:30PM – 3:30PM | Doom & Bloom
Marc O’Brien (Co-founder of Climate Designers) hosts an interactive session featuring psychologist and TED speaker Dr. Renée Lertzman. Together, they explore the psychological roadblocks to climate action and brainstorm how designers can shift industry culture to prioritize climate-positive decisions. This session investigates how to turn anxiety into agency through the lens of design and human behavior.
