SHLTR Talks: Spotlight Series
Spotlight gathers an exceptional roster of architects, interior designers, and makers shaping the Bay Area’s creative identity. Each evening pairs a visual presentation of recent work with an intimate conversation led by SHLTR Editor-in-Chief Zahid Sardar. SHLTR is excited to announce the second of the Spotlight talks:
Stone Works: The Language of Form
Meet renowned stone mason and sculptor Edwin Hamilton and master letter carver Christopher Stinehour who examine how stone speaks in contemporary architecture and landscape—shaped as much by time and water as by the precision of the human hand.
From eroded field installations and meditative water features to finely chiseled memorial inscriptions, their conversation traces the quiet power of form made permanent. Together, they reveal how ancient stone traditions continue to inform modern art and design through material honesty, restraint, poetry and craft.
Come listen to these master craftsmen and their fascinating stories — in a rare public appearance — for the first time together!
About SHLTR
SHLTR™ is a bold new design publication conceived and led by Zahid Sardar, inspired by Bucky Fuller’s 1930s magazine, SHELTER. Championing design innovation from the San Francisco Bay Area, SHLTR launched this year as a monthly online newsletter, a bi-monthly digital flip-book, and a planned print edition later in 2026. As the first all-encompassing regional design platform, SHLTR™ spans architecture, interiors, landscape, craft, technology, and AI-driven creativity — reaching a global audience. Produced by Shelter.Partners, LLC, in alliance with the Center for Architecture + Design, SHLTR extends beyond the page with events, podcasts, and talks. Visit shltr-mag.com and follow @shltr_mag.
All ticket sales will benefit the Center for Architecture + Design.
