What began as a beachfront community and maritime port, the North Beach area of San Francisco has seen many changes over its long history. Sailors, bankers, poets, and performers have all left their mark, transforming the area into today's vibrant mercantile and tourist destination. This walk through the neighborhood will explore their stories while also providing a taste of the area's delicacies along the way.

This tour ends at Tony’s Pizza Napoletana. Guests who wish to stay can enjoy pizza on their own.



Tour Information

Tours are led by Stephen Johnson, a board member of the San Francisco Tour Guide Guild, and will last approximately 90 minutes. In case of rain, the tour will be rescheduled.

  • Starts: 608 Commercial Street (SF Historical Society Museum) at 10:00 AM
  • Ends: Tony's Pizza Napoletana, 1570 Stockton Street, around 11:30 AM
  • Maximum attendees: 20 people
