Join Mechanics' Institute for a special event with Bay Area author Maxine Hong Kingston, Kathryn Ma, Aimee Phan, and moderator Mina Kim to celebrate Lunar New Year and the Year of the Snake. The panelists will discuss traditional, contemporary, and personal New Year rituals, explore the myths and qualities of the Snake, and provide predictions for the year.

Celebrate the Year of the Snake at the City's annual Chinese New Year Parade! Happening downtown San Francisco on Saturday, February 15th, this epic event is named one of the Top 10 Parades in the World by the International Festivals & Events Association. Don't miss the Alaska Airlines Chinese New Year Parade, one of the only night-illuminated Parades in North America and the biggest Lunar New Year celebration outside of Asia! The parade starts at Market Street and 2nd Street.
