Details

Family Story Hour takes place on every 3rd Saturday of each month (3rd Saturday in March) from 10:00-11:00 am. Please register for as many dates as you're interested in attending. All are welcome!

Gather 'round as a family to make crafts and hear stories while nestled in the 2nd Floor Library at Mechanics' Institute! We’ll read 2-3 stories appropriate for children age 8 and younger, plus make a fun craft to take home.

While our Family Story Hour programming ends at 11:00 am, families are highly encouraged to explore the library with their kiddos. We recommend browsing the recommended books table and visiting the Universal Books section, finding something appropriate to read with their children. Non-member families are welcome to stay until noon.

Story readers include Alyssa Stone, Heather Miles, Nico Chen, and other Mechanics' Institute librarians and staff. Craft activities are often related to the book choices. The collage of pictures on this page shows families making "leaf buddies," inspired by Carin Berger's The Little Yellow Leaf (a November 2023 book selection).

Please note: Photos and/or video may be taken during this event.
