Litquake is San Francisco's premier literary festival, bringing together hundreds of authors for a week of diverse readings, discussions, and performances celebrating the Bay Area's vibrant literary culture.
As part of the festival's celebration of World Food Day, this event explores how international ingredients shape our local kitchens.
Global Pantries and Local Kitchens
In a city like San Francisco, kitchens tell a rich story of globalization, experimentation, and cross-cultural cuisine. To celebrate World Food Day, this special panel invites food writers, cookbook authors, and local chefs to dive into their pantries and discuss the origins of their favorite food items.
The panel features Sara Calvosa Olson, Linda Tay Esposito, and Nandita Godbole. They will showcase their preferred ingredients, discussing the history of each item and how it speaks to their heritage, culture, and home country. The audience will get an up-close experience with the ingredients, which will be displayed on an exploration table for touching, smelling, and tasting.
The conversation will be moderated by Cecilia Phillips of KQED's Check Please! and Beyond The Menu.
