ABOUT: Mikiya Matsuda is a steel guitarist and string bassist living in San Francisco, CA. He is the leader of The Alcatraz Islanders, a swing-era Hawaiian band, and an active sideman in the Bay Area’s traditional jazz scene.
Mikiya has played at venues and festivals across the US. At home on the West Coast, he has worked with a range of artists, including Clint Baker, Nick Rossi, Vic Wong, the Hot Club of San Francisco, Le Jazz Hot, Dave Stuckey, Jonathan Stout, Casey MacGill, and others.
When not performing, Mikiya teaches music privately and has been on the faculty at Centrum’s “Red Hot Strings” workshop since 2019.
