About the Work
Awakening
Dirty Monitor takes the audience on an emotional and visual journey — from isolation to awakening, from shadows to light. The show opens in a cold, almost graphic novel-like atmosphere, evoking a sense of mystery and urban solitude. The Ferry Building appears as a silent, brooding presence, its windows hiding reclusive lives behind dimly lit apartment walls. But through the hands of its iconic clocktower — like a keyhole into another reality — a glimmer of light emerges. This ray of hope begins to draw vivid, animated lines across the building, each stroke introducing a symbolic animal tied to a core human value, deeply resonant with the American spirit:
The Deer – Courage
The Cat – Independence
The Fish – Adaptability
The Bird – Elegance & Intelligence
Each animal introduces a new burst of color and energy, transforming the architecture into a living canvas. Nature reclaims space — flora subtly shifting and evolving with each scene — whis- pering a message to us all: “It’s not too late... but the time to wake up is now.”
Some sequences appear as though seen through glass, blurring the line between dream and reality, inviting the audience to question what they see and to embrace life’s vibrancy with renewed perspective.
As the momentum builds, the visuals become more abstract — a bold interplay of black and white
lines and explosive rhythms. The final crescendo leads to a powerful visual statement: WAKE UP — or maybe, we leave it unsaid, for the audience to carry it home.
This piece is not just a show — it’s a call. An artistic pulse of urgency and hope, projected straight
