Live music to spice up your lunch time with The McWhatley Duo

Reid Whatley is a versatile multi-instrumentalist playing electric bass in The McWhatley Duo, your sonic Happy Meal. They will be playing a mix of Latin and Latin Jazz with a few humorous novelty jump swing tunes from the '30s and '40 thrown in. He also plays drum set, timbales and percussion, upright bass, and keyboards. He performed with Wrecking Crew members Hal Blaine and Steve Douglas in the Steve Douglas band in 1992.

Mr. Whatley fronts his own band, comedic jump swing act, “Big Cheese and The Jive Rats” and plays drums in the Steely Dan tribute band, “Slinky Thing.” He's performed as musician and DJ on at least 8,000 cruises on The Bay for Hornblower Cruises over his 4 decades with the yacht company. He says, "I'm waiting for it to turn into a steady gig!"

Jeff McNish is a unique and talented guitarist who applies himself to many diverse musical styles. His skills in combining like-minded musicians to achieve a unified goal is to be admired. During the pandemic he was (and still is) the kingpin of driveway Latin Jazz jams at his home in Alameda keeping the music alive! Mr. McNish played guitar with the BBH Serenaders, 2006 Carriacou Parang Champions.

The McWhatley Duo is sure to be the perfect companion to your afternoon break in San Francisco.
