Born from a shared love for the perfect bagel and a challenge between friends, Schlok’s Bagels & Lox brings an authentic East Coast bagel experience to San Francisco. Co-founders James and Zack initially launched Schlok’s as a pop-up in 2020 after the pandemic put their respective careers on hold. With James, a Michelin-trained chef, perfecting the recipe and Zack handling the business, their bagels quickly gained a devoted following, selling out within minutes each weekend.
After three years of overwhelming demand, they opened their second brick-and-mortar shop in downtown San Francisco to give the Bay Area what it had been missing: a damn good bagel. Schlok's uses classic East Coast techniques with a San Francisco twist, creating a bagel that is loved by locals and even wins the approval of a very particular New York bagel connoisseur—Zack's dad.
